The World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Africa Region Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly has paid a courtesy call on the new Chair of NEITI Ledum Mitee with a promise to assist the agency meet some of its challenges.The Country Director was at the NEITI Secretariat in company of the Lead Economist John Litwack, the Procurement Consultant Chief Bayo Awosemusi, and Amanda Lumun Feese, the Extractive Industries Specialist, all of the World Bank Country Office Abuja.

The Nigeria Extractive Industries transparency Initiative(NEITI) has released the report of the Independent Auditors on Nigeria's Solid Minerals sector covering the period 2007-2010. From the report,the federal government of Nigeria recieved a total of N54.5Billion from mining companies while companies reported they paid N53.8 Billion in form of Taxes,Royalties,Levies,etc.This leaves an unreconciled difference of N687Million.

The Chairman of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) Ledum Mitee has called on relevant government agencies responsible for custody and management of extractive resources revenue to take practical steps to recover the sum of $9.8090 Billion representing outstanding recoverable funds due to the federation account from oil and gas companies operating in the country.

The former Senate Committee Chairman on Upstream, Senator Lee Meeba has welcomed the steps by Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) to take ownership of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB). Senator Meeba was speaking in Lagos at the NEITI Stakeholders interactive forum on the Bill. He explained that although the Bill is an Executive Bill, the decision by a reputable organization like NEITI will help to address the inadequacies that he has noticed in the PIB and pave way for industry experts to make submissions and enrich its contents.
