The Chairman of NEITI Civil Society Steering Committee, Comrade Shehu Sani has applauded the on-going reforms at the Secretariat of Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
He expressed satisfaction on the unfolding pace of development at the Secretariat and called for synergy between NEITI Secretariat and the Civil Society Organizations. In his words “we are now happy that the content is the same, but the drivers and personalities are different. It is a new NEITI”.
Comrade Shehu Sani was addressing the Steering Committee meeting of the Civil Society Organizations held at Reiz Continental hotel, Abuja.
He affirmed commitment of the Civil Society to the on-going reforms at the Secretariat and appealed for closer ties between the Secretariat and CSOs.
The Director, Communications, Orji Ogbonnaya Orji solicited the support of the CSOs in advancing the course of NEITI and pledged the co-operation of the new management to building better relationship with the CSOs.
At the meeting, a proposal on capacity building for CSOs was presented by the Secretariat and approved by the CSO Steering Committee. The CSOs also approved Terms of Reference (ToR) for the appointment of a CS liaison officer.
