As part of efforts to present its independent Audit reports in a simple, concise and correct format, NEITI has elicited the support of BudgIT a Non- Governmental Organization known for expertise in open data analysis and communication.
The partnership and cooperation follows series of meetings between the Executive Secretary, Waziri Adio and the organization.
Under the partnership, a one week training programme was held at the NEITI Secretatriat. The objective of the training was to expose staff to the management of data and information simplification with the use of Infographics.
The training which was coordinated by a team led by Mr. Atiku had in attendance members of staff drawn from various departments who were taken through the rudiments of the infographics and simplification processes.
As NEITI plans to release its Audits in the next few weeks the knowledge acquired will be put into full use in the presentation of 2013 Oil and Gas and Solid minerals industry Audit reports.
In the past, one of the major challenges that NEITI and the EITI globally had to contend with was the difficulties in communicating the audit reports which are usually presented in complex economic, finance and accounting jargons. The partnership with BudgIT is expected to present these reports in an easy to read user friendly format.
