A new special Radio programme on implementation of Remedial issues in various Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) Reports is to commence on KAPITAL FM from Monday, 26th October, 2015.
The Open Audit, a 30 minutes weekly programme to be broadcast at 10:30am every Monday on Kapital FM 92.9, a very popular news and programme station of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria established about 15 years ago, is expected to provide a platform for robust discussion, debate, information and enlightenment on the contents of NEITI Audits Reports and implementation of remedial issues. It will also serve as a forum to host important stakeholders to constructive views on oil gas and mining sector reforms.
In addition it will be a programme where NEITI stakeholders such as governments, companies and the civil societies interact on issues of remediation on NEITI Audit Reports. The programme is also to educate the public on the principles of NEITI and the global EITI on public disclosure of information and data on natural resource governance.
The programme is a product of partnership between NEITI and a leading civil society organization in Nigeria, Civil Society Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) and OXFAM. The emergence of Open Audit has been widely received by stakeholders in the NEITI / EITI process as a major contribution by CISLAC and OXFAM to pushing the boundaries of dissemination of NEITI Audit Reports to enviable level.
The Executive Secretary of NEITI, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed who is also a Ministerial nominee in the emerging Federal cabinet in Nigeria is set to flag off the programme as the first Special Guest. The programme to be broadcast in English will be hosted by a veteran broadcaster and NEITI’s Director of Communications Dr. Orji Ogbonnaya Orji.
